Rinascentia’s founder Rina Timpano recently interview with Clean + Conscious, & gives us an inside look at how her products are changing the face of beauty using eco friendly and probiotic-rich sea kelp
For those who suffer from allergies and or sensitive skin, the “less is more” principle makes sense. But how do you know which brand has formulas that can hydrate and tame sensitive skin?
Rinascentia is a brand committed to creating nourishing skin care solutions that are free from common toxins and environmentally dangerous ingredients. Their Plane Jane® Hydrating Serum is proof of their hard work. The formula they have created uses a blend of sea kelp and powerful probiotics to reduce redness, inflammation and irritation and improve skin’s elasticity. Specifically developed for all skin types, including those suffering from allergies and sensitive skin, Rinascentia stands out among similar products in their category.
We found out that founder, Rina Timpano, and her family all suffered from allergies and sensitive skin. So for her, treating her skin with nourishing formulas is akin to eating well to keep her body healthy. When she uses clean beauty products for her own skin, she feels confident that she’s providing the vitamins and antioxidants that her skin and body needs. We chatted with Rina to learn more about what makes their carefully selected ingredients so special. For those with sensitive skin who are especially curious about the benefits of Sea Kelp, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera, keep reading!
What make this product so unique and effective?
Plane Jane® Hydrating Serum is made with only a few ingredients and formulated without water, thickeners or any other harmful ingredients. What we leave out is as important as what we add in. No fillers, no nasties, just 100% natural healing ingredients in every bottle and nothing else added. The product is mildly scented with Australian native rose oil and steam distilled hydrosol from the moist, rich hinterland of Byron Bay, NSW to the Rose Valley of Bulgaria.
What are some of your favourite ingredients in this Serum? And why?
My favourite ingredient in Plane Jane® Hydrating Serum is the nutrient dense “Sea Kelp Bioferment Lactobacillus”. It’s literally food for your skin, helping to nurture its microbiome. It contains high levels amino acids, iodine, minerals and antioxidants. Sea kelp’s anti-inflammatory properties have been known to reduce redness and irritation, and clinical studies have found it improves eczema. In keeping things green, Sea kelp is abundant, is one of the fastest growing plants in nature, and can grow up to two feet per day. Sea Kelp farming is environmentally beneficial because the plant pulls in more greenhouse gases from the water nearly any other water plants. More information about the power of sea kelp is available here.
Hyaluronic Acid is another amazing ingredient. It instantly hydrates deep into your skin by holding up to around 1000 times its weight in water. Plane Jane® Hydrating Serum contains two different types of sodium hyaluronate in different molecular weights. This helps to hydrate on the deepest possible level. It also contains vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant to help nourish and protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals.
Vitamin B5 is included to act as a barrier booster, stimulating your skin’s healing process, improving elasticity and hydration of the skin. Aloe vera contains an anti-inflammatory with a compound called C-glucosyl chromone which helps to regenerate new cells and rebuild damaged tissue.
These ingredients are combined to keep the skin deeply hydrated, protect and strengthen the skin barrier. Formulated with no unnecessary fillers or thickeners, this formulation works with the use of only natural active ingredients.
What skin type is this product perfect for? Who should not use this product?
Plane Jane® Hydrating Serum is made for all skin types. It is especially effective for sensitive skin as the ingredients are so gentle and non comedogenic. Those with rosacea prone skin benefit from cooling and calming properties. Those with acne prone skin can use it safely as it is entirely oil free. It is packed with anti inflammatory and antioxidant benefits so the only people who it is not ideal for is those with allergies to Rose Otto essential oil.
What research led you towards this formula?
My research has included investigating ingredients that are proven to not only deeply hydrate but to also strengthen, protect and heal dehydrated skin. The ingredients also needed to be ethically produced, safe for humans, the planet and ocean. Ten years in and Plane Jane has won gold and editors choice awards two years in a row. The following studies offer a glimpse into the extensive research I have done to create my products:
- Efficacy of cream-based novel formulations of hyaluronic acid of different molecular weights in anti-wrinkle treatment
- Efficacy of a New Topical Nano-hyaluronic Acid in Humans

Do you have any tips as to how consumers can use this product for the best results?
Plane Jane® Hydrating Serum should be applied to damp skin followed by a moisturizer. If you live in a dry climate, an extra layer is super helpful. During humid days I like to apply the serum on damp skin, later reapplying as needed. For oily skin types or during high humidity this product has the power to replace the moisturizer entirely. Plane Jane works with the humidity to keep my skin soft and supple without using other products. It can also be used as a primer, applied on the skin before makeup. Used together with Terra Illuminating Face Mud, this serum helps add deep hydration while exfoliating and brightening. You can also use it in your hair to refresh and hydrate.
Rinascentia continues to make strides in clean beauty. Their careful selection of nourishing and natural ingredients like sea kelp allows them to make a positive impact on the the environment as well as your skin. Their Plane Jane® Hydrating Serum isn’t their only amazing product. Their Hydrating Rose Sea Mineral Spray Mist is also attracting much deserved attention as some of the best natural tonics available.
