3 reasons why we love fermented sea kelp

3 reasons why we love fermented sea kelp

Whenever I’m asked in my beauty blog what my favourite ingredients to work with are, I will always put fermented sea kelp at the top of my list. If you take a look, you’ll notice it’s in a lot of our products. It is has been one of the most underrated international beauty trends for several years now with raving beauty reviews.

We use Sea Kelp Bioferment, which is a natural kelp extract created from Bull Kelp harvested from the Atlantic Coast of North America, and fermented using Lactobacillus, the same bacteria that produces yogurt.

There are so many reasons why I love working with this cosmeceutical ingredient, and when you learn more about it, I know you’ll love it too:

1. It literally feeds your skin

Think of fermented sea kelp like a superfood smoothie that your skin drinks right up to give you radiant and healthy skin polish.

Sea kelp has a raft of biochemicals unique to its plant species. These are biochemicals demonstrated in studies to be antiviral, to reduce redness and irritation, and to boost collagen synthesis.

When you ferment anything, it boosts its nutritional value and makes nutrients more available to the body. Sea kelp is already a storehouse of minerals and nutrients; Fermenting it supercharges its nutritional value and sets off a chain of other beneficial biochemical reactions.

2. It feels amazing

Not too many people will know how Sea Kelp Bioferment feels when it is used alone. A beauty journal here and there may mention it but far and in between. I actually dab a little bit on when I’m working with it because it’s so cooling and refreshing. You can feel it working to calm and soothe your skin. I love knowing this is in my products.

3. It’s a sustainable beauty ingredient

Sea kelp is abundant, as one of the fastest growing plants in nature, and it can grow up to two feet per day! There are environmental benefits to having more sea kelp crops, because it pulls in greenhouse gases from the water more than most other water plants.

That means seaweed farms can help to combat the local impacts of ocean acidification. They also eat other gases and elements that cause algal blooms, which deplete the ocean of oxygen when they decompose.

Sea Kelp Bioferment is an active ingredient in

• Plane Jane® Hydrating Serum

• Forever Young Wrinkle Smoothing Serum

• Eternal Youth Marine Age Regenerating Serum

• Rebirth Marine + Hydroxy Acid

• Hydrating Rose Sea Mineral Spray

• Alla Masqua Cranberry Bioferment Hydroxy Mask

• Silk Nourishing Face Cream with Silk Amino Acids

Now you know why I love this ingredient so much!
